This was because, through this tradition the lore of the appearance of mankind in America was communicated, maintained and projected.
According to the Andean Mythos the first men were the Vari Vira Cocha Runa –that is, the Huari-Huarijocha Runa–, also called Pacarimoc Runa or those “of the Dawn”, this is, of the Primera Edad de los indios or “First Age of the Indians” as historian Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala wrote in his book El Primer Nueva Corónica y Buen Gobierno (“The First New Chronicle and Good Government”, 1583-1615).
Significantly, and contrary to all historiographical belief, there was in America a native white population, which in archaeological terms is observed in the dolichocephalic group and in mythology –understanding it as past history– through the presence of the Viracochas or White Gods that are surveyed in numerous representations of pre-Columbian art and by the various crónicas written by European Conquistadores, explorers and missioners that witnessed the Indios Blancos or “white Indians” –a period of time that covers from the 15th century till the ethnographic studies of the 20th–.
